CAROLYN B. SMITH LIBRARY

Sanders Designs was hired by Boy’s Latin School of Maryland to design a new building to house the library and computer lab for the lower and middle school students.
The building’s site was restricted by its size and proximity to the lower and middle Schools. The design challenge was not only to provide a library and computer lab, but to give the children a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere.
Although the site was tight, the design of the 4,400 sq ft facility, with load bearing masonry and brick veneer, offered the children a clear story casual reading area, an updated state of the art computer lab, and all the services needed at a library and media center.
